A place to think, to dream

This is my new happy place:

A sky blue hammock strung across the bones of the glass-less glass house next to the avocado tree. Everywhere I've lived, I've always sought out a quiet place to go when I need to think, clear my head, take a break. A place peaceful enough that I can be content just sitting - or lying - there and looking at the natural world.

This spot is in the middle of what is going to be my new garden beds. It's a mess of old half rotted, half falling apart raised garden beds right now - full of weekds and overgrown roses. The spot around the hammock is mostly weeds and volunteers - I find these sweet little forget-me-nots coming up everywhere, five tiny blue petals with a sunny yellow centre. But mostly this is a spot for dreaming, right now.

A place to lie back and look up at the leafy avacado tree, the way the fractal pattern of its brances speaks of its age, its slow growth. It's a place to imagine what this place will look like, with time and care. I can plan and plot and dream.

Buying this house was an inherently hopeful act. I feel like I can dream about the future now.

I took some 'before' pictures, of course. This is where I start from.
